PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrodynamic bearing device with a thrust bearing part having improved wear resistance. SOLUTION: The hydrodynamic operation of lubricating oil is used to generate pressure in a thrust bearing gap C between a thrust bearing surface 11a having a hydrodynamic groove and a smooth thrust receiving surface 11b for rotatably supporting a shaft member 2 in the thrusting direction. The thrust receiving surface 11b is a flat surface while the thrust bearing surface 11a has an inclined face 17. A reduced portion 15 is provided in the thrust bearing gap C with its axial width gradually reduced as tending to the outer diameter side. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
