PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide fluorescent glass particles in which semiconductor-nanoparticles are dispersed and fixed inside a glass as a matrix and which are excellent in the long term stability of the fluorescent characteristics, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing fluorescent glass particles dispersed with semiconductor-nanopaticles, comprises the first process of forming a reversed micelle solution by adding a surfactant to a hydrophobic organic solvent, the second process of forming a reversed microemulsion involving a semiconductor nanoparticle-dispersed aqueous solution by adding to the reversed micelle solution a semiconductor-nanoparticle dispersed aqueous solution, and the third process of making fluorescent glass particles containing dispersedly therein semiconductor-nanoparticles by adding into the reversed microemulsion such a mixture containing an organic alkoxysilane and an alkoxide as a glass precursor and by proceeding a sol-gel reaction.
