PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transport device having a small overall height and installable even in a narrow place. SOLUTION: The transport device includes a driving mechanism 36 having a drive motor 37, gear trains 40 and 41, and shafts 95, 96, 97, and a major portion of these components and a motor 50 for elevating and sinking and also a gear box 75 lie in a three-dimensional area 77 surrounded by the transport paths 5, 6, 20, 21 of a main transporting means 2 and an auxiliary transporting means 3.
