PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for an automobile which is improved in operability of an input means and flexibility in design of an instrumental panel. SOLUTION: A grill frame 31 of a mode selector 20 equipped on an instrumental panel 10 is painted by electrically conductive paint and a touch electrode 41 of a touch switch 40 is connected to this frame. By this means, the grill frame 31 of the air conditioner for the automobile, so the switches on the instrumental panel 10 can be reduced by that amount. As a result, a design of the instrumental panel 10 can be improved and an operator can touch the grill frame 31 only by bringing the hand in the direction of the grill frame 31 without looking at that direction and can do an input operation because an air flows out from the mode selector 20 in the case of an input operation into the grill frame 31.
