摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly detect an object existing in the outside of an own vehicle and execute a proper operation responding to the object to be detected. SOLUTION: The driving safety device extracts the object based on the image outputted from a camera of an external sensor, and calculates (step S04) a relative position and a relative distance from the own vehicle. The device determines whether or not a moving object is detected on the upper part of the stopped vehicle when the stopped vehicle is detected, and calculates (step S07) the relative distance between the stopped vehicle and the moving object based on a beat signal outputted from the radar when the moving object is detected. The device determines (step S08) whether or not the moving object is positioned within a predetermined distance in front of the stopped vehicle based on the calculated relative distance between the stopped vehicle and the moving object. The device determines (step S12, step S13) that the moving object is a pedestrian or the object other than the pedestrian based on the determination result of the size, the height from the ground, and the moving speed.
