PAPER END DETECTION DEVICE AND PRINTER USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the end of paper despite irregularities in the sensitivity of a paper end sensor in a paper end detection device to detect the front end 31 and rear end 32 of the paper 3 wound around a platen roller 2. SOLUTION: The paper end detection device is composed of an optical paper end sensor 4 arranged in opposition to the outside periphery of the platen roller 2 and an arithmetic processing circuit connected to the paper end sensor 4. The arithmetic processing circuit has a memory 7 to store a correction value intrinsic to the paper end sensor to the result of paper end detection, and corrects the result of detection on the basis of the correction value stored in the memory 7 after detecting the front end 31 and the rear end 32 of the paper on the basis of the output signal of the paper end sensor 4.
