It is intended to provide a phase-controlling or amplitude-enhancing agent for endogenous melatonin secretion rhythm and a circadian rhythm ameliorating agent which can be continuously taken in daily life, have a high safety and are capable of effectively preventing or ameliorating endogenous melatonin secretion rhythm disruption or circadian rhythm disruption without taking exogenous melatonin; and functional foods with the use of the same by which various symptoms of sleep disturbance, latent disturbance of sleep induction and so on can be prevented or ameliorated. The above-described phase-controlling or amplitude-enhancing agent for endogenous melatonin secretion rhythm and the circadian rhythm ameliorating agent contain whey as the active ingredient. A functional food for ameliorating endogenous melatonin secretion rhythm contains the phase-controlling or amplitude-enhancing agent for endogenous melatonin secretion rhythm as described above, and a functional food for ameliorating circadian rhythm contains the circadian rhythm ameliorating agent as described above.
