PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize temperature control of a heating means even when various sizes of photosensitive materials are randomly inserted. SOLUTION: This heat developing device is equipped with: a conveyance means for conveying the sheet-like photosensitive material; and the heating means C for heat treating a latent image formed on an image forming layer of the photosensitive material conveyed by the conveyance means to form a sensible image. The heating means C is divided into a plurality of regions HA, HB, and HC where temperatures are respectively independently controllable in the transverse direction of the photosensitive material crossing at right angles with the conveyance direction Y of the photosensitive material . The upstream side of the heating means C is equipped with a plurality of position detecting sensors 50 arrayed in the transverse direction of the photosensitive material. The temperature control means for controlling the temperature of the heating means C controls the temperatures of the respective regions HA, HB, and HC of the heating means C according to the output of the position detecting sensors 50.
