<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for distributing a free sample to be provided to a consumer with the intention of collecting marketing information and a collecting device of collecting distribution data based on POS system equipment for sales. <P>SOLUTION: A bar code 2 obtained by encoding a predetermined free sample code is printed on the packing of a mini sample(package obtained by sub-dividing the amounts of use for one or two batches), and a free sample code and a trial value are registered in a common format merchandise/free sample master data registering part. The bar code is read by the scanner of a POS register device, and a trial value corresponding to the free sample code is collected with the merchandise price.
