METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR WASHING INCINERATED ASH AND CEMENT KILN DUST WITH WATER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for washing incinerated ash and cement dust with water permitting efficient desalting of the ash and efficient removal of heavy metals from the ash in utilizing the ash or dust as a raw material of or an additive for cement.

SOLUTION: The method comprises adding water to incinerated ash and/or cement kiln dust containing salts to carry out mixing washing with water so as to make soluble salts elute, subjecting the resultant mixture to solid-liquid separation to obtain the desalting residue for utilization of a raw material of or an additive for cement. A part or the whole of slightly soluble salts in the ash and/or dust is solubilized by blowing carbon dioxide or a gas containing carbon dioxide into the mixture during the mixing washing with water to make soluble salts elute. An apparatus for the method is also provided.
