<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily decide whether a consumable container installed to a device is a refill article, and to easily grasp its refill frequency even if the refill article is used and transferred among a plurality of devices. <P>SOLUTION: A printer 200 uploads an identification number and an ink residual amount of an installed ink cartridge 270 to a server 100 via a network 300. The server 100 associates and manages the identification number and the ink residual amount in each the ink cartridge in a residual amount management table 142.
