<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid Lewis acid catalyst which is industrially useful and capable of being used under a non-solvent condition, its manufacturing method and various reactions using it. <P>SOLUTION: The solid Lewis acid catalyst represented by general formula (1): R<SB>1</SB>-(SO<SB>3</SB>)<SB>n</SB>M<SB>m</SB>H<SB>a</SB>(OR<SB>2</SB>)<SB>b</SB>is obtained by reacting an aromatic multivalent sulfonic acid with a trivalent metal alkoxide. A hetero Diels-Alder reaction, a ring-opening reaction of an epoxy compound with an amine or the like is carried out by using the catalyst to obtain a pharmaceutically or agriculturally useful compound. In the above formula, R<SB>1</SB>represents a 4C-30C aromatic hydrocarbon, R<SB>2</SB>represents a 1C-6C straight-chain/branched/ring alkyl group, M is a trivalent metal ion, n is an integer of 2 or 3, and m satisfies m=0.2n to 1.0n. If (n-3m) is positive, a=(n-3m) and b=0 are satisfied, if (n-3m) is negative, a=0 and b=(3m-n) are satisfied, and if n=3m is satisfied, a=b=0 is satisfied. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
