<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a visual reproduction assisting apparatus capable of efficiently recognizing an external environment with a limited number of electrodes. <P>SOLUTION: The visual reproduction assisting apparatus comprises: a photographing means for photographing an object; a symbol conversion means for extracting a specified symbol by an image processing from the object photographed in the photographing means and converting the extracted symbol to information for making a patient recognize it as a simplified different pattern; and an electric stimulation pulse signal output means for supplying the information converted by the symbol conversion means to cells constituting a retina as electric stimulation pulse signals. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
