PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize polarization diversity by switching between horizontal and vertical polarization or between right revolution and left revolution of circular polarization, using only one antenna. SOLUTION: The antenna according to the invention comprises a transmission line (1) electrically connecting from a transmitter or a receiver to a branch point, a plurality of high frequency transmission lines (2) between the branch point and a radiation patch for branching at the branch point, wherein each of the lines reaches a plurality of supply points of the radiation patch from different directions, and a short-circuiting/releasing switching portion (3) composed of a switching device arranged at an intermediate section of each high frequency transmission line. The antenna also comprises a polarization switching function characterized in performing polarization switching by short-circuiting only one intermediate section with operation of the switching device.
