PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intercom system to which an external device can be connected and capable of attaining communication between the external device and a living room master unit or an entrance slave unit without an additional master unit. SOLUTION: An adaptor 3 is connected to an interface for an additional master unit of the living room master unit 2 and the external device 4 is connected to the adaptor 3. The adaptor 3 includes: a main line communication section 31 serving as a living room master unit interface corresponding to the additional master unit interface; a state transition section 32 for executing a state transition of the adaptor 3; a state monitor section 33 for monitoring a state of the adaptor 3 itself; a communication section 34 for making communication with the external device 4 on the basis of transition information of the state from the state monitor section 33; and a button interface section 35 for receiving a signal from the connected external device 4 to output a control signal equivalent to a button control signal outputted from the additional master unit to the living room master unit 2.
