PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manage content by automatically updating a control list and searching the content recorded on the basis of the updated control list. SOLUTION: A DSC 2 is provided with an image pickup device 20, compression/decompression engine 19, CPU 21, ROM 22, RAM 23, image recorder 24, file management 25 and external I/F 26. If there is an album control list having no reference source or content having no reference source, the CPU 21 causes a liquid crystal display unit 4 to display that an album is being created in order to inform a user that the album is being created, writes out the album control list thereof, and an actual file path of the content to a control list of a master or the album control list to add them.
