PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealed secondary battery equipped with a safety valve which can be fitted with high work efficiency while securing high airtightness inside, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In order to fit a safety valve 12 to an outer package lid 11, its hooking part 121c is press-fitted into a hole 11h of the outer package lid 11, and a tight fit-in process of the safety valve 12 into the outer package lid 11 is completed when the hooking part 121c has completely passed through the hole 11. With the tight fitting-in process in a completed state, the edge of the hole 11h in the outer package lid 11 is brought in a state of being pinched by the hooking part 121c and the end face 121f of a base 121e, and an airtight state is created between the inner wall face of the outer package lid 11 and the end face 121f of the safety valve 12 by interposing an O-ring.
