PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the kinds of charging devices that charges the surfaces of respective photoreceptors. SOLUTION: The charging devices are designed so as to be shared between two or more kinds of image forming apparatuses of different processing speeds. Additionally, in each electrophotographic image forming apparatus in which the processing speed can be selectively switched, two charging devices 5a, 5a which have the same shape (e.g., charging devices, each having a case width of 14 mm) are arranged in one image forming section (e.g., a black image station Sa). Also, the number of drives for the two charging devices 5a, 5a is switched according to the processing speed.
