PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device which can stably cool the inside of a cooling storage. SOLUTION: The cooling device detects the freezing of a cooling secondary refrigerant based on the time-lapse change of the temperature Tc of a cold head 11a of a Stirling freezing engine 11 and the time-lapse chamber of the temperature TE of a low temperature evaporator 15, heats the low temperature evaporator 15 by a heater 16 to melt the cooling secondary refrigerant. Thus, even when the cooling secondary refrigerant freezes, the cooling device detects such freezing state, melt the cooling secondary refrigerant, and can stably cool a freezing chamber 4 or the like.
