An optical recording medium (1) comprising a reflective layer (3), a lower dielectric layer (4), a recording layer (5), an upper dielectric layer (6) and a light- transmitting layer (7) sequentially formed on a major side of a substrate (2) is disclosed. The lower dielectric layer (4) is composed of a first lower dielectric layer and a second lower dielectric layer which prevents reaction between the materials of the first lower dielectric layer and the materials of the reflective layer (3). The upper dielectric layer (6) is composed of a first upper dielectric layer and a second upper dielectric layer which prevents reaction between the materials of the first upper dielectric layer and the materials of the light-transmitting layer (7).
