Height-adjustable drive especially for furniture

A height adjustable strut has three telescopic sections with at least two of the sections (19, 24) linked to flexible tensile bands and with one of the sections sliding into an outer section (2) when fully retracted. The strut is operated manually or by an integral servo motor and has a ground support plate (4) at one end and a mounting for the furniture, e.g. desk top, at the other end.
