An ignition contact breaker, wherein an arm 12 is adapted to pivot at or near one end, a movable contact 20 is provided at or near the other end and a leafspring 16 urges the movable contact 20 towards a fixed contact 21 on a mounting plate 11, has a resilient web or bushing (14) force fitted around a fixed pivot pin 13 and rigidly secured to a hub portion 15 of the arm 12 so that in operation arm 12 pivots by displacement of the material of the web or bushing (14). The end of spring 16 is secured to arm 12 by a clip 18 and carries a projection 19 for engagement by the actuating cam (not shown). Bushing (14) is of rubber. In an alternative embodiment the arm is in two parts, a metal part (44) carrying the movable contact and a nylon part (34) comprising a portion forced fitted on the fixed pivot (33) connected by webs (35) to an outer ring having an extension to which the metal part (44) on the end of the leaf spring (36) is riveted. The webs (35) flex when the arm is actuated by the cam (not shown).
