A beverage dispenser with an out of syrup detector is described. The detecto r analyzes the electrical current drawn by a solenoid valve controlling the flow of syrup. Parameters of the current are compared to known parameters indicative of proper back pressure and know n parameters indicative of an out of syrup condition.
