The method involves installing an enclosing cap (5) around a drill string (2) carrying a drilling tool (3), in an air tight contact through its circumference with a peripheral ground and through its center with the string. The cap is connected by a transparent tube (10) with a container (11) of volume appropriated for permitting the setting of residual material and evacuation of carrier fluid. An independent claim is also included for a device for implementing a method of protecting the environment.
