摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus capable of reading both surfaces of a manuscript without turning the manuscript over. SOLUTION: Reflected light of a first optical path L1 and reflected light of a second optical path L2 occur from a manuscript 32a by two incident light of different incident angle from a light source 33. A reading unit reflects the reflected light of the first optical path L1 and the reflected light of the second optical path L2 respectively by a first mirror 34 and a third mirror 37 to acquire the resulting light by a first CCD line sensor 23a, and reflects the reflected light of the first optical path L1 and the reflected light of the second optical path L2 respectively by a second mirror 35 and the third mirror 37 to acquire the resulting light by a second CCD line sensor 23b. The second reflected light L1b from a surface (upper surface) opposite to an irradiated surface of the manuscript 32a is acquired with a deviation according to thickness of the manuscript, in relation to the first reflected light L1a from the irradiated surface (lower surface) of the manuscript 32a. Based on the fact the deviation is different between the reflected lights from manuscript 32a by incident light of different incident angle, image data corresponding to images on both surfaces of the manuscript 32a is generated, using a reflected light caused by irradiation from the optical source 33 to one surface of the manuscript 32a.
