PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a corrosion prevention method for a manhole material or the like which enables coating to be performed in a simple manner and is free from problems, e.g., on environmental pollution caused by organic solvents, and which has excellent anticorrosion property. SOLUTION: The corrosion prevention method is characterized in that a metal stock having a rough surface such as cast iron, iron steel, stainless steel, aluminum, tin, copper, zinc, lead, other metals, and two or more kinds of alloys and plating thereof, e.g., the metal stock for a manhole material, a casting tube, a flange or the like is subjected to cation electrodeposition coating using a cation electrodeposition paint comprising silica particulates in which the average particle diameter lies within the range of <8μm and oil absorption (ml/100 g) lies within the range of 200 to 400, and under no water washing or after water washing, baking is performed to form a coating film having excellent anticorrosion property on the surface of the metal stock.
