PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a throughput in the case of recording a plurality of color images while wasting of a recording medium and image worsening resulting from a load fluctuation during transfer of the recording medium are prevented, and at the same time to suppress failures of an image recording part such as a thermal head. SOLUTION: A sheet unwound from a sheet feeding part 40 is transferred towards a transfer direction downstream side while the paper is opposed to the thermal heads 71a-73a of a printing part 70 without carrying out printing of the color images. At a time point when the paper of a length whereby the whole of the plurality of color images included in one order can be printed is transferred to the transfer direction downstream side than the printing part 70, the transfer of the sheet is stopped. Thereafter, the plurality of color images are continuously printed by the thermal heads 71a-73a of the printing part 70 while the sheet is sent back towards the transfer direction upstream side by a transfer roller pair 34 disposed at the transfer direction upper stream side than the printing part 70.
