PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device and an image processing method capable of efficiently processing a medical image while holding necessary information. SOLUTION: When various image processes are performed for image data by the image processing device 1, the image processing device 1 recognizes a region including a subject of diagnosis and sets the region as the region of interest. Then, the device sets the regions other than the region of interest as non-interest regions, divides the regions, and performs various processes corresponding to each divided region. Specifically, various image processes such as the gradation process, the dynamic range compression process, and the frequency emphasis process are performed for the region of interest to make the image highly minute enough for the image diagnosis, while the gradation process for adjusting the image contrast is performed for the non-interest regions.
