The invention relates to a method for the heat treatment of cast parts produced from a light metal melt, especially an aluminium melt, whereby internal stresses of cast parts formed in a complex manner can be especially effectively eliminated, and said method can be implemented in an economical manner and in such a way that it is efficient in terms of belt production. T o this end, the respective cast part is quenched following an annealing proces s or from the casting heat, cooled to a low temperature, and then suddenly heated to a high temperature by being immersed in a salt melt at a temperatu re above the boiling temperature of water at a normal pressure.
