<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a reduction in data recording quality in a recordable disk having a multilayer structure. <P>SOLUTION: The disk having a multilayer structure and a recording (and reading) direction varied from layer to layer is provided with a trial writing area (PCA) for adjusting recording laser power on the recording start position side of each recording layer. As a calibration operation is performed in a place near the recording start position, proper laser power is determined, whereby writing omission around the recording start position is prevented to suppress a reduction in data recording quality. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
