<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small, rigid and reliable fuel cell container capable of storing an electrolyte member and enabling even supply of gas, a uniform temperature gradient inside the container, highly efficient electrical connections and highly efficient power generation, and a fuel cell for a portable electronic device. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell container 2 includes a base 6 that houses an electrolyte member 3 having first and second electrodes 4, 5; a first fluid flow passage 8; a first wiring conductor 10; a lid 7 attached to the top surface of the base 6; a second fluid flow passage 9; and a second wiring conductor 11. At least one of the first and second wiring conductors 10, 11 is formed around the opening of the first fluid flow passage 8 or the opening of the second fluid flow passage 9 in such a manner as to abut the first or second electrode 4, 5.
