<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus with which problems of turn up of a cleaning blade, a damage to an edge or uneven pitch of an image, etc. are solved irrespective of printing width and printing ratio. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus having a cleaning means for removing toner remaining on an image carrier, the cleaning means has the cleaning blade pressurized on the image carrier, a toner guide member which contacts the image carrier on the upstream side from a pressurized position of the cleaning blade and a toner ejection restriction member pressurized on the toner guide member, a space is formed with the cleaning blade, the toner guide member, the toner ejection restriction member and the image carrier, provided with a detection means for detecting toner quantity stored in the space and a control means for performing control so that a toner image is formed on the image carrier and the toner image is supplied to the cleaning means when it is judged that the stored toner quantity is less by the detection means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
