PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assistant device capable of being composed lightweight and an operation cable unit employing it. SOLUTION: The assistant device is provided with a housing 2 to which a conduit is attached, a slider 3 which connects end of inner cords 12a, 12b with each other and is slidably supported in housing, a rack 4 fixed to the slider, a gear 5 which engages with the rack and is rotatably provided within the housing 2, a lever 6 which is provided to rotate in unison with the gear and extends axially outward and a spring 7 which is interposed between free end of the lever and the housing. The assistant device 1 is so configured that angle determining between the lever 6 and the spring 7 is small when operation stroke is small and the larger the operation stroke becomes, the larger the angle becomes.
