PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably use a valve clearance automatic adjusting device employing a sawtooth screw over a long term. SOLUTION: A clearance between an inner diameter of a straight part 10c of a bottomed-cylindrical female screw member 10 and an outer diameter of a male screw part 9b of an arm support member 9 has a size corresponding to a clearance for clearance fit in a case that a sign indicating a position of a tolerance zone of a shaft in fitting on the basis of a hole according to JIS is any one of d, e, f, g, h. Therefore, even when axial length of the female screw part 10a of the female screw member 10 is relatively short, the inclination of the arm support member 9 is restricted by a straight part 10c of the female screw member 10 in a slightly inclined state when the support member 9 receives press-in load from an arm 5, so that the attitude of the arm support member 9 is stabilized.
