PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a molecular nanotube having a higher molecular weight in a higher yield by separately performing a crosslinking reaction between cyclodextrin molecules and the deprotecting reaction of stopper substituents. SOLUTION: A polyrotaxane is synthesized by making an inclusion complex, called a molecular necklace, composed of a polymer as a core 10 and cyclodextrin molecules 20 surrounding the polymer and attaching substituents 30 (e.g., 2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene) larger than the inside diameter of the cavity of the cyclodextrin molecule. Thereafter, the polyrotaxane is subjected to crosslinking in an organic solvent and is then subjected to deprotection.
