PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved fixing device of a belt nip system, in which a cost reduction and high reliability are achieved. SOLUTION: The fixing device conveys a recording medium P with a developer image formed thereon and fixes the developer image onto the recording medium by the application of heat to the developer image. The fixing device includes: a heating member which is rotated to convey a recording medium and has a heat source to heat the recording medium; an endless belt 2 which sandwiches the recording medium P between the heating member 1 and the belt 2 and which, when the heating member 1 is rotated, runs so that the recording medium P is conveyed substantially perpendicular to the rotation axis of the heating member 1; pressure members 4 and 50 which are disposed inside the endless belt 2 and presses the endless belt 2 in the direction of the heating member 1; and a belt guide member 3 which is disposed inside the endless belt 2 and guides the belt 2 while the internal face of the endless belt 2 is loosely held. The pressure member has a pressure roller 7 which rotates while pressing the endless belt against the heating member 1, and a pressure pad 4 which presses the endless belt 2 against the heating member.
