<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet recording ink having excellent dispersion stability and ejection stability, capable of providing high-grade images free from bleeding against plain paper and reclaimed paper, having high printing density and excellent in color development property, to provide a recording method using the ink, to provide prints, and to provide an ink-jet recording apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The ink-jet recording ink comprises a colorant obtained by covering a pigment and/or a dye by a phase transition emulsification method, water, at least one compound selected from the group consisting of acetylene glycol surfactants and acetylene alcohol surfactants and a compound of 1,2-(4-10C alkyl)diol (or, also comprises a compound of a glycol ether) and is formed to have 25-45 mN/m surface tension.
