<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which does not allow a decrease in visibility of display even if dust or stains stick on the top surface of a front light. <P>SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal cell 100 which performs display in a reflection mode and the front light (lighting unit) which is arranged on a view side of a liquid crystal cell 100 and emits light to the liquid crystal cell. The front light 60 is capable of projecting an invisible light and the liquid crystal cell 100 is provided with a phosphor layer 45 which converts at least part of the invisible light projected by the front light 60 into a visible light and projects it. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
