<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve visibility of an image of reflection type display on a reflective and translucent type liquid crystal device while sufficiently securing visibility of an image of transmission type display. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device 10 has a reflection part 301b which is provided on a surface of a color filter substrate 300 which faces a liquid crystal layer 165 and reflects incident light from the side of an opposite substrate 200 toward the opposite substrate 200, an opening part 301a which transmits the incident light from the side of the color filter substrate 300 toward the side of the opposite substrate 200, and a reflecting layer 301 which sections respective pixels 160. An area where the pixels 160 are provided is sectioned into a plurality of small areas when viewed at right angles to a plate surface of the opposite substrate 200 and the opening part 301a is made different in area by the small areas. The quantity of light reflected by the reflection part 301b is larger in a small area where the area of the opening part 301a is small than in any other area where the area of the opening part 301a is large. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
