<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To start signal recording at optimum timing even after a signal recorder is attached to a measuring object while suppressing power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 15 of a data recorder 10 turns into an optical signal input waiting state, that is, an input standby state, when it receives a command to start recording from a computer 50 via an interface 17.
