PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program for supporting design by utilizing existing data which presents proven design data having specification values closer to performance items to a designer. SOLUTION: A device for supporting design by utilizing existing data is provided with: a requested unit name acquiring means 31 for storing the unit name of a unit to be newly designed in a requested unit name 13; a past results design data retrieving means 32 which reads out past results design data 14 sequentially and extracts past results design data for which a unit name of the past results design data 14 matches a requested unit name; a requested specification inputting means 34 which generates requested specification data 16 including a requested unit name, performance items and specification values of the unit to be newly designed; and an amount of departure calculating means 36 which reads out extracted past results design data and requested specification data 16, calculates a difference between the past results design data and the specification value of requested specification data for each performance item, calculates an amount of separation for each unit identifier, and sorts the unit identifiers based on the amount of separation of each unit identifier in the ascending order to add a retrieval order to the identifier.
