PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize temperatures in a wide range by controlling a Peltier element with a generated heat quantity. SOLUTION: This temperature controller for the Peltier element comprises the Peltier element, a temperature sensor, and a control circuit. The controller also comprises a temperature detection means 40 detecting the temperature of the Peltier element 34, a constant voltage power supply means supplying a constant voltage power, a voltage application means 62B applying a supplied power to the Peltier element after lowering its voltage, a current detection means 66 detecting a current flowing from the constant voltage power supply means, a temperature difference calculation means 52 calculating a difference in temperature between the heating surface and heat absorbing surface of the Peltier element based on a detected current and the voltage applied by the voltage application means, and a heat quantity control means 56 instructing an applied voltage to the voltage application means so as to generate a specified heat quantity based on a calculated temperature difference and a temperature detected by the temperature detection means.
