PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling ball retainer for a linear guideway structured so that the same can be mounted without screw, capable of reducing the processing cost of the linear guideway and enhancing the mounting efficiency. SOLUTION: The rolling ball retainer for the linear guideway has a chief function whereby rolling balls are held within a slide block by the rolling ball retaining surface of the rolling ball retainer, which is installed on the mating surfaces for mounting provided on both sides inside the slide block and fixed in mating with end covers provided at the ends of the slide block, wherein an engaging hook and a pin are installed at the ends of the retainer asymmetrically, and mating with them an engaging groove and a groove are formed separately at the end covers, and the retainer is fixed by engaging the hook and pin separately in the engaging groove and the groove.
