PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting rod and its manufacturing method having a large and a small hole part formed with a high roundness, embodied in a lightweight and sturdy construction, and manufacturable at a low cost. SOLUTION: The connecting rod is molded by metal powder injection molding and is structured so that a small diametric hole 5 to admit insertion of a piston pin is formed at the minor end part 4 of the rod body 1 and a large diametric hole part 7 to admit insertion of a crank pin is formed at the major end part 6 of the rod body 1, wherein the rod body 1 is formed so that the connecting rod body part 2 and a cap part 3 are molded in a single piece, in which the forefront isolated from the connecting rod body part 2 by a ring-shaped groove 8 at the major end part 6 is allowed to serve as the cap part 3, while the section surrounded by the ring-shaped groove 8 is made a virtual boundary surface 9, it is arranged so that the cap part 3 can be divided from the virtual boundary surface 9 by any appropriate dividing means.
