The method involves transmitting service messages (SN) e.g. electronic mail messages, from service centers (SZ1-Z5) to a server (SV). The messages from the server are sent to one of many terminals, e.g. a set top box, in a fixed and/or mobile network. Multimedia message content is transmitted from the terminals to the server, which generates the messages from the content. The messages are directly or indirectly sent to the centers. Independent claims are included for : (1) a server for transmission of service messages in a fixed and/or mobile network; and (2) a terminal device for transmission of service messages in a fixed and/or mobile network.
