<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable for example a trunk line and a branch line to share a transmitter/receiver or a repeater, and also prevent the power of branched signal light from rising more than necessary. <P>SOLUTION: An optical transmitter 14 is allowed to have a folded line 7 (8) for connecting a first transmission line 20 (30), and a second transmission line 30 (20) that opposes the first transmission line 20 (30).
