<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct backlight utilizing a control depending on a face function capable of furnishing relatively large brightness and view angle. <P>SOLUTION: The direct backlight has a frame 10. At least one lamp 18 is firmly fixed to the frame 10. A reflection plate 22 is mounted on the frame 10 so as to locate below the lamp 18. A diffusion plate 24 is mounted on the frame 10 so as to locate at upside of the lamp 18. The diffusion plate 23 has at least one transparent plate, and a surface contour is formed from one side of the transparent plate. The surface contour is composed of a plurality of optical conversion unit and forms a prescribed pattern. The pattern is obtained by being converted by an appropriate face function depending on a relative spacial position against the lamp 18 on the diffusion plate 24 and the reflection plate 22. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
