PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous wall construction method and an excavator using a simple, lightweight device without applying a portal frame method, and allowing autonomous erection without causing the inclination of a chain member and the horizontal turning of a vehicle to bend an excavated ditch during a soil improvement or continuous wall construction. SOLUTION: A device wherein a guide post carrying the rotatable chain member is mounted in a vertically turnable manner to a base machine without having a portal frame is used, and the chain member is rotated in the stop state of the base machine to vertically turn the guide post to a set swing angle to excavate the ground. The guide post is then vertically turned in a reverse direction and returned to a vertical or reverse swing angle. In this state, the base machine is allowed to travel and to be excavated to the tip of the previously excavated swing angle, and the base machine is stopped to vertically turn the guide post to a set swing angle to excavate the ground.
