PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly productive method for manufacturing an arylmethylene polymer by efficiently polymerizing a dihaloaryl methane compound. SOLUTION: In this method for manufacturing an arylmethylene polymer, a dihaloaryl methane compound is polymerized in the presence of a polymerization catalyst that contains a metal capable of breaking into carbon-halogen bonds in the dihaloaryl methane compound.
