PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new N-vinylamide polymer in which the contents of a remaining monomer and a hydrolyzed product of the monomer are reduced, and which is suitably usable in various kinds of fields such as a cosmetic and a medicine; and to provide a method for producing the N-vinylamide polymer. SOLUTION: The N-vinylamide polymer containing an N-vinylamide monomer unit as an essential component has≤10 ppm content of the N-vinylamide monomer and≤100 ppm content of the hydrolyzed product of the N-vinylamide monomer.
